Before fully pursuing his passion as a full time Capt. and commercial fisherman; Captain Leighton Ingram worked in a corporate career for 13 years, only to spend his free time on the water. His family has been in Florida since the early 1880’s and he is a second generation guide. When his family settled here they were part of the growing agriculture and citrus industry.
The family eventually moved to become part of the community on Gasparilla Island; and at one time owned the historic Journey’s End property on 18th st. To this day Capt. Leighton has family residing in Boca Grande. Capt. Leighton is a member of the Boca Grande Guides Association, and a U.S Merchant Marine; his extensive fishing experience has brought him to live in places from Destin to the exclusive Ocean Reef Club where he lived four years. He currently resides in Histroic Punta Gorda Fl, with his four children. When the Capt is not on the water, he is an avid reader and writer; he enjoys cooking for his friends and family, and vacationing in the Great Smokey Mountains. Capt. Leighton is a true sportsman and enjoys all aspects of the outdoors.
Currently, Leighton has targeted a very niche market in that he offering ultra-custom trips for his customers. Being very familiar with the canals and waterways surrounding Charlotte Harbor, both on the Boca Grande side, as well as the Punta Gorda side, Leighton can take you to areas our other Captains can’t. In his micro-skiff, Captain Ingram can get you into the skinny water, and even push pole you into areas that are entirely unreachable by the larger v-hull boats. By doing this, Leighton is able to offer wading trips in the backwater that are hardly ever touched. Additionally, Leighton offers fly fishing excursions as well.
And something even more unique that Captain Ingram offers is that Leighton is a licensed Realtor. You can schedule a trip with him down the back canals and waterways to show you what homes are available, look at their seawall structure and davit from the water, view any bridges to bay and determine their height restrictions, and really get a feel for what fishing opportunities are available around a home your are considering to purchase.
